Terrie and Steven Tie The Knot
Terrie and Steven met in a nightclub in Ireland and have been together for 13 years since, getting engaged on their 10 year anniversary together! Terrie shares their story …
Steven took me to Portofino’s after work – it was a Tuesday evening, and as I was pregnant we went straight home after the meal. When we got home, there were candles and rose petals all over the living room. Steven had written me a card from the baby and the last line said, ” Daddy has a really important question to ask you”. When I looked up Steven was down on one knee!!
The Wedding Planning
We held our wedding in September at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and had our reception at Bradda Glen.
I really enjoyed planning everything. The hardest part was choosing the seating charts because we wanted everyone to have a good time and sit with people they knew.
My dress was a Mori Lee dress – it had a sheer back and lots of 3D flowers on the front, a train on the back and lots of lace in the skirt. I just loved everything about it and had a floor length cathedral style veil. This was my ‘something borrowed’ as it was my bridesmaids’! I also wore her wedding shoes which were ivory Rachel Simpson shoes.
The Wedding Outfits
The bridesmaids dresses were also by Mori Lee – vintage grey lace. The groom and groomsmen wore navy blue three piece suits which we hired from Peter Luis.
The Finishing Touches
The tables were all decorated with crisp white table cloths and chair covers with grey bows tied around them. The center pieces were glass bowls with purple Gerbera flowers inside as they are my favourite!
I made my own seating chart using photo frames, and my maid of honour had a big wooden heart made for me with our names and wedding date on it to go with the charts.
Initially I wanted to keep everything white but my florist showed me a gorgeous antique rose which was very light pink with tones of grey to match the bridesmaid dresses. It was perfect.
The Wedding Cake
Instead of a traditional wedding cake we went for a cupcake tower -50 vanilla and 50 carrot. They were amazing and we were still eating them 3 days later!
The Wedding Speeches
The speeches were amazing – they all did really well. My dad read a poem that my very talented auntie wrote about Steven and I. My husband is a man of few words but managed to deliver a 5 page tear-jerker that left us all speechless.
The dresses were probably the most expensive thing but we got, but we balanced this out by getting all of the accessories quite cheap online. We also saved money on the photography as we used my brother who is a photographer. I wouldn’t change a thing about the day – it was the best day ever!
Your Most Emotional Moment
The most emotional part of the day was Steven’s speech and our first dance as husband and wife to our wedding song which was Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’.
